Mike & Mandi

Welcome to the stories behind the images! Stories way bigger than just "how we met." Stories of limbs entwined in bed, a reassuring hand squeeze when you're nervous, cold sand on your bare feet, quiet walks around the neighborhood to watch the first leaves fall from the trees. These moments—quiet, small, unseen—are just as celebratory and meaningful as your vows or your first dance, for all of which you'll want to say, "I wish time could stop right here." That's how we see photography: Humble, honest, open, personal reflections of our efforts to halt time, to preserve, to honor, to remember.

Three and half years of adventure, coffee and kolaches , Kyle proposed on a hike. The summer leading up to their winter wedding, they both decided to do things that were important to them before moving their lives from the East Coast to Colorado. Kyle set off to do a solo completion of the Appalachian Trail and Jamie spent the summer treasuring quality time with her sisters and family. I loved following Jamie’s updates of Kyle’s progress on the AT through Instagram—it was so sweet to see her and Kyle reunite in resupply towns from Georgia to Acadia, Maine. I loved that they pushed each other to achieve dreams, together and apart.

Intimate Weddings

When Nick and Sarah first called us to discuss ideas for their elopement, they said, “We don’t have a particular place in mind for our ceremony. We just want to feel moved by the landscape to say our vows.” This might’ve been the most inspiring way to describe a wedding day that we’d ever heard. There really isn’t a better place than the Rocky Mountains to be moved by the landscape to do something as epic as marry your best friend. We should know, having done it ourselves.

“Together with their families”—there aren’t four better words in the English language to describe Hannah and Jonathan’s intimate backyard wedding. The ceremony took place in her parents’ backyard, right up against the foothills to the Rocky Mountains in Fort Collins, Colorado. Hannah wore her grandmother’s watch and her little brother played the violin for her procession. Jonathan’s dad […]

Intimate Weddings

Farrah & John had planned a summer Colorado elopement in the beautiful remote country of Routt National Forest. But nature had other plans. On the morning of their wedding, they awoke in their A-frame cabin to see their breath as cold clouds in the air. When they looked outside their window, they discovered that 6-inches of snow had descended overnight. […]

Elopements

“We’re total weirdos together and hate doing anything conventional,” said Samantha, a photographer, of her relationship with Bryce, a graphic designer. I really wanted to capture their unique love and step out of the conventional box. So I suggested a couples session photographed on 35mm film. Why? Because unlike digital photography, which is fast and […]

Love

Elise and Moises are strong spirited—they’re both martial artists, and even their married name, Fermin, means “strong.” We had the honor to not only photograph their mountain elopement but to help plan it as well! Colorado’s winter weather threw our original location plans out the window, but Elise and Moises were so easygoing and ready to roll with the punches (haha-haha). […]

Elopements

Camera and headlamp batteries were charged, my layers were packed and you bet I had stuffed plenty of trail snacks into my pockets, but nothing could’ve prepared me for this emotional Rocky Mountain elopement. The Couple Audrey & Colton’s love is an unassuming kind, yet so assured. They wanted a ceremony that reflected that and […]

Elopements

The Adventure Begins Hiking back down from Audrey & Colton’s emotionally beautiful elopement at an alpine lake in the Colorado Rockies, Audrey stopped on the trail and said, “We’re going on our honeymoon next weekend in Iceland. Do you guys want to come and photograph it?” Of course, there was no way we could say […]
